Miriam Schultz & Kevin Wiremu

Who We Are

Miriam Schultz was born in Hull in 1954. She was surrounded by textiles from an early age as her mother was a weaver and her father a tailor.

She left Hull in 1973 to study a BA textiles degree course at Camberwell college of Arts. She then went on to take a P.G.C.E course at Goldsmith's University of London.

Kevin Wiremu was born in Deptford in South East London in 1952. He obtained a B.Sc. at Kingston University, and later took a P.G.C.E course at Goldsmith's University of London.

 

 

Our History

Miriam & Kevin have been working within the costume and fabric field since 1983 and have built up an extensive skills knowledge.

 

Prior to that, they  both worked as  technicians at Chelsea College of Art.  Miriam worked on the Textiles Print BA  course for over 5 years. whilst Kevin worked in surface design.

 

After successfully completing two large print and dye commissions for The Royal Opera House, they then went on to open their own studio based in Greenwich, South East London, in 1984.

 

They have worked on many varied projects on major films, prestigious theatre, opera and ballet companies worldwide plus West End and Broadway musical theatre productions.

 

They have headed the dye shops on several films at Pinewood and Shepperton Studios for both costume and set departments.

 

They have worked on film and TV location, as well as in The Netherlands, Belgium and Germany on several stage productions. They have also worked at Barrandov Studios in Prague on 2 major film productions, one of which was entirely printed and dyed in London, then transported to Prague.

 

 Miriam is an associate lecturer at the ‘London College of Fashion’ on the ‘Costume for Performance’ BA & MA Courses
