This one-day course is an exciting opportunity to learn the techniques used in distressing and breaking-down for costume and set fabrics. This class is suitable for people who would like to enhance their skills or beginners who are keen to learn this essential, but rarely taught area of costume. 

CLASS PLACES ARE LIMITED

Some of the topics covered:

•  Blood stains, knife and bullet wounds
• ‘Tech’ dyeing for white fabrics (dipping down, off whites)
• Patch/stain dyeing
• Painting techniques
• Distressing costumes to varying degrees (close-up, stage, crowd, battle). 
• Ageing techniques
• Materials and equipment suppliers 

What’s included:

• All dyes, paints and any specialist materials that may be required
• Sampling fabrics
• All tools supplied
• Protective safety glasses,  face masks, rubber gloves, cut  resistant gloves 

 What to wear:

• Apron or overalls or clothes you don't mind getting dirty
• Please wear sensible shoes

Please bring along up to two different garments of your choice to work on throughout the day. These could be such things as a top and trousers, a jacket or coat or even some shoes.
